URBIS PLURALIS, 2017-2024
Most of my photographic artwork explores space and its multidimensional structure. I explore the essence of the spaces in relation to its geography, history, architecture or topology, as well as how it is influenced by its users, the inhabitants and visitors.
Urbis Pluralis is a photographic series comprising over 100 images taken in more than 20 cities
around the world, started in 2017 and still growing today. It captures the urban landscape through
its layered dimensions—architecture, materials, historical strata, geographic conditions, as well as
vegetation, roads, and rivers that shape and divide urban zones.
At its core, the series explores the interactions and evolution of these urban “layers,” whether physical,
theoretical, or conceptual. It also contains some human elements, social imprints and movement
patterns, such as the paths people take through a given space.
All photographs in the series are created in situ and in camera, without digital retouching or
manipulation. The multiple exposures that form each final image are inseparable and unalterable.
The series has been published as a book in late 2024, sold in various art venues and libraries, among
which the Galerie Nationale du Jeu de Paume and the Maison Européenne de la Photo in Paris, the Palazzo degli Esposizioni in Rome and Tsutaya book store in Tokyo.
